Since the beginning of the pandemic, HWL has helped organizations across the country stay on top of cost-effective staffing needs in order to manage surges in necessary care. One particular place we managed to see great success is in Georgia.

In Georgia, HWL worked with two programs to support COVID-related staffing surges: the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) and the Georgia Department of Health (DPH). By providing staff to over 300 facilities to assist with the crucial medical services needed in the immediate fallout of the pandemic and onward, HWL has been able to help the public health and safety of the state of Georgia.

However, in addition to helping contain costs, HWL staff assisted in administering much-needed COVID-19 vaccinations throughout those states.

Fast Facts

  • Over 350,000 vaccine doses were administered by HWL-provided staff between February and May 2021 at 9 drive-thru vaccination sites
  • Over 5 million hours of service were provided by HWL-provided staffers

Georgia Department of Public Health COVID-19 Testing Program

Since the pandemic began, HWL has assisted the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) with its testing measures. Testing has proven essential for mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and protecting our most vulnerable populations.

Over the past two years, HWL staff and the Georgia DPH have provided nearly 330,000 hours of service to administer and process tests at 17 testing sites throughout the state. HWL and the Georgia DPH continue to administer and process these tests.

GEMA COVID-19 Vaccination Response Program

The Georgia DCH also contacted HWL for assistance administering the initial vaccines from February-May of 2021 as a part of the GEMA Vaccination Program. HWL and Jackson Healthcare together provided 350+ crucial medical staff to operate 9 mass vaccination sites, plus three pharmacists to the Sandy Springs Mercedes Benz site.

In total, HWL provided over 350,000 vaccine doses in just four months. Through the work of 250 vaccinators and observers, 25 pharmacists, 48 pharmacy technicians, and nine site managers, HWL and its staff were able to protect thousands upon thousands of Georgians.
